Central Work

Recently, my wife, Cathy and I were in India. We heard a remarkable testimony of Jesus’ saving work in one person’s life. We will call him Yadav. He is from a village in northern India, where many terrorists live.

In the 1990’s, Yadav became one of them. With guns and knives, these terrorists demanded people give them money, or they beat them, broke their legs and finally killed them. Yadav became a leader. He killed people. His life was awful. He had no peace, no joy, and was constantly being sought by the police. He couldn’t stay with his family and was always hiding. Then he was arrested, convicted and imprisoned. In 2014, Yadav was released from jail.

After he left prison, he met a friend who shared Jesus with him. Yadav realized he was a sinner and that he had done terrible things. Yadav committed his life to Christ and to serve Him.

His Christian friend invited him to attend our DCPI House Church Planting Training in 2015. Since then, Yadav has established 37 churches that range in size from 7 to 50. He has reached over 1,000 people for Christ and the church. Wow!

Yadav looked at Cathy and me and said, “My life before Christ was all about death. Now I’m giving a message of new life. I have peace, joy and great satisfaction in the life Jesus is giving me.”

The Mission Principle is the sixth of the twelve Biblical Principles of Church Planting: The central work of the new church will always be to help people put their trust in Christ, and grow into maturity as His followers. Jesus said, “the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”  Luke 19:10.

Churches have many priorities. We must never forget that God’s heartbeat is for the lost to be found.  The primary focus of a church must be winning people to Christ and making them strong disciples.

What about your churches and church planting movements? Are they winning precious people to Christ? Are they helping these people become strong disciples? If not, what can you do to make this the central work of your churches?

Until the Whole World Knows Him!
