When Iron Sharpens Iron in the United Kingdom

A few short years ago the United Kingdom was an enigma to the church planting missionary.

Finding a way to open this region to join in the Great Commission seemed to be a “Mission Impossible”.

Flash forward to today, where DCPI is receiving continual updates about the explosive revival that is happening throughout the U.K.

This revival has moved beyond the mere training of planting churches, to fully embracing what it means to be an equipped church planting leader.

It is a real Proverbs 27:17, in which iron sharpens iron, come to life!

Take Master Trainer Martin Berry, an apostle called to the ministry of church planting.

Prior to his DCPI training, Martin was discouraged by the lack of resources he had for this ministry, which came to a head when he prayerfully decided to close the doors of his church plant.

It wasn’t until his first DCPI training that the revelation of why this initial church plant was unsuccessful became clear.

In a session about avoiding landmines, Martin discovered the worst kind of church you can plant is where the congregation is looking to you (the leader), rather than looking to God.

He knew in that moment this was the pitfall that led to the closing of the church.

After becoming a Certified Trainer, Martin was equipped with the “nuts & bolts” to plant dynamic churches, which he began to do shortly thereafter.
