PRAYING FOR AFRICA EAST AND SOUTH
"But God has helped me to this very day;
so I stand here and testify to small and great alike."Acts 26:22
Africa, once called ‘The Dark Continent’, is now the continent with more Christians than any other continent and has the fastest growth rate of Christianity in the world! Most of these 28 countries in the DCPI East and South Africa World Zone have stable governments yet face economic struggles due to COVID 19, poor governance and natural disasters. While the church is growing beautifully in this zone, two different Christian Watch groups places 2 countries from this zone in top 10 list of violent persecution of Christians. 4 countries are also in the list of 10 countries for the extreme violence against Christians as well as most churches attacked or closed due to persecution.
Some East African countries, the Horn of Africa, and Mozambique regularly face extremist attacks from Muslims. Recent news continues to broadcast actions of Islam extremists in villages and cities throughout the region. Africa East and South DCPI leaders continue to keep their eyes focused on the prize and have not been daunted by the challenges and hardships they face in their region. They embrace their strategic position and continue to provide high impact training for church planting and multiplication in the zone and around the world.
In 2023, the number of DCPI leaders trained through September has already surpassed their goal. New partnerships with local organizations and individual leaders have been key to this success. Bible schools and institutions of higher education are also embracing DCPI training – a real game changer that is showing phenomenal impact!Praise
Training in 2023 has exceeded expectations in this world zone. They are now projected to train 9,000 church planters, 3,000 more than imagined!
New Partnerships with institutions like Mozambique Baptist Union Bible Institute, Assembly of God bible schools, Rhema Bible Colleges, International Leadership University, Africa International University, United Pentecostal Church International of Uganda, and Harvest Africa Evangelistic Mission School are producing incredible results.
Praise God for the impact of the willingness of these leaders, young and old, to follow the call God has placed on their lives.
Other amazing reports come from long-term partnerships. A good example is the United Pentecostal Church International of Uganda. Since training 12 pastors in 2008, the number of churches in this denomination increased from over 350 to 2,300 with more than 500,000 members in Uganda alone. They’ve also planted new churches in Rwanda, South Sudan, DR Congo, the Dominican Republic and Cologne, Germany.
Prayer
For the fire to keep burning in the hearts of the 487 certified trainers appointed and commissioned this year.
That these new partnerships will remain strong as together we focus on training men and women with a heart for the lost. It is these leaders who continue to expand the impact of the Gospel carrying the vision to give life to new bodies of believers.
For teams of courageous and faith filled leaders from Harvest Africa Evangelistic Missions School in Ethiopia. May God go before them to reach difficult areas of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia, places in desperate need of the light of Jesus.
For the Church in East and South Africa to remain strong against immense persecution and continue to shine brightly with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
Matthew 24:14

TRUTH #1: God sends you, and God provides for You.
As stated in I Thessalonians 5:24, “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.” God sends individuals into the world with a purpose—to effect significant change (Matthew 9:37-38, Romans 10:14-15). His mission involves bringing hope and redemption to a broken world (Matthew 9:36; Romans 3:23, 6:23, Matthew 11:28-30, John 3:19b, John 11:25-26). When God calls you to go on a mission, He ensures your needs are met because His resources are boundless (Psalm 50:10-12) and His provision is abundant (Ephesians 3:20). Providing for your necessities, especially financial ones, is an inherent part of God’s character (Philippians 4:19, Genesis 22:14) and is particularly evident when you are serving on His mission.
MYTH #1: Support-raising is like asking for handouts and begging for money.
Think of it this way: when you see a billboard encouraging you to buy a Big Mac, you don’t consider it begging for money. Similarly, when inviting God’s people to invest in something as extraordinary as spreading the Gospel, it’s not begging but an opportunity to be part of the greatest cause ever known. If some choose not to contribute, there will always be others eager to seize that chance. In fact, you are inviting them to step into a great faith adventure of participating in the Great Commission and trusting God to provide. Their faith will grow, and this will be good for them and for you!
TRUTH #2: God provides for His ambassadors through His people.
2 Corinthians 5:20 emphasizes that “we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, ‘Be reconciled to God.'” When you embark on a mission, you represent not just yourself but God, His Gospel, and all of His people to those you encounter.
It is crucial to understand that God’s people are genuinely eager to invest in Missions. Many individuals work diligently for 40-60 hours per week, allocating a significant portion of their earnings to support their families. However, they also possess a deep desire to impact the world positively. Consequently, they actively seek ways to support God’s work in various capacities. In fact, God commands His people to contribute to His mission, whether it be supporting the church, ministers, or missionaries, all of which help spread the Gospel and aid those in need. God delights in working through His people to provide for His noble causes.
MYTH #2: I won't get paid while I raise support.
We're happy to say that this simply isn't true. At DCPI, from the time you have money in your support account, you will be able to draw a paycheck. We expect all of our missionaries to reach 100% support before they step into their official DCPI job. This means that the entirety of your job, for the first few months, will be raising support. You will get paid during this time. And, after you have reached 100%, you will continue getting paid. We will even give you 10% of your time to maintain your supporter relationships.
TRUTH #3: I can do this in 100 days.
We encourage all of our DCPI missionaries to take a prayer retreat, attend support-raising bootcamp, read The God Ask, and lay out a plan to meet with and raise 100% of their support in 100 days. Even missionaries who have had very high support targets, based on their housing and insurance expenses, have been able to raise 100% of their support in 2-3 months. Our goal is to walk you through the process from start to finish, so that you can confidently trust God and walk through your support-raising season with faith and victory!
MYTH #3: God doesn’t know who will support me.
Although it might sound absurd, the reality is that God already has a team of prayer and financial supporters lined up for you, even months before you embark on your journey. Your role is to pray and seek out those individuals, and you will undoubtedly be amazed at how God provides when you find them. We believe a more accurate way to understand support-raising is actually supporter-raising or "friend-raising," because this is more about the relationships than the money.
TRUTH #4: My paycheck will cover my expenses.
At DCPI, we take into consideration your needs for insurance, housing, travel expenses, ministry expenses, and even support-raising expenses, and we calculate your support target based on all these factors. This means that the amount you raise for your support will be different from nearly everyone else's, and it is designed to ensure that you will have what you need to stay in ministry for the long-run. Our goal is to set you up to be able to continue working and living in a healthy environment, as you would in any other career. So, when you consider raising support, know that you will not be leaving your family destitute. You will be making a reasonable paycheck, including the expenses you need to continue doing this ministry.
MYTH #4: Support-raising works great for short-term trips, but I could never do this for my salary.
While it’s true that support-raising is very effective for short-term missions, there are many missionaries who choose support-raised careers on purpose. The spiritual and relational benefits of having men and women on your team, praying for you, encouraging you, and fully-committed to your ministry are immeasurable. And, if you ask most support-raised missionaries, they will tell you that, though they don't know how, they have never been without. God supplies all your needs, and a support-raised missionary salary doesn't mean you will go without provision.
The DCPI team is full of people like you who sought the Lord, heard Him lead, took a huge step of faith, and watched God provide for them every step of the way. This can be your story, too.
