For Ollis (OJ), Human Resources means prayerfully getting the right persons on our team and preparing them to go to the right places globally at the right time.
Ollis creatively reformats our written training materials using oral Bible storytelling techniques and discussions to present the church planting guidance to oral learners. Selected Bible stories are taught and connected to DCPI church planting principles and key teaching points.
“As I traveled the world as a US Navy Chaplain I became intrigued by a distinctive zeal found among newly planted churches to win people for Christ, develop disciples and intentionally plant other churches to make the gospel more accessible. I met Mark Williams, who explained the DCPI mission and challenged me to consider DCPI as a ministry after retiring, at a men’s retreat. Mark also told me that orality, the use of storytelling and oral communication, was a growing technique needed by DCPI in church planting training. I love storytelling. From that point on Jesus slowly drew me in to become part of this ministry.”
Vision Statement: Let’s finish the story!
Life Scripture: Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
“I am passionately stirred by the fact that while 2/3 of the world’s population are oral communicators, 90 percent of Christian workers use literate communication styles.
DCPI can do better. Each year DCPI expands the number of leaders trained who go out and plant new churches, moving us closer to our 5 million church goal.
With the orality format, we can train many more indigenous leaders in the principles and processes of church planting even if they don’t read well or not at all. Oral learners can be highly imaginative with great memories to tell the Bible stories to others who have been unreached.”
“I have seen healings, marriages restored and lives protected in war zones. But the courage of believers to not back down from their faith in Jesus at the risk of family and community rejection or of their lives is the greatest miracle.”
