Matt serves as the Director of Training, where he works closely with international leaders to accelerate church planting movements worldwide. Matt is responsible for maximizing and innovating DCPI training curriculum, so more people can become equipped to plant effective churches in every community!
How did God call you to DCPI?
I have been passionately involved in church planting movements for years, and I believe the best way for me to continue to accelerate church planting movements in as many countries as possible is through DCPI curriculum and coaching. For the past few months, God has been impressing upon my heart that I should make a move to DCPI, and I am stepping out in obedience and joy to follow God in this next, bold step. I am thrilled to be working with DCPI leaders and materials to reach more communities with the Good News!
What is your personal vision statement or life scripture?
A verse that motivates me daily is Ephesians 2:10. “You are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do the good things that God prepared in advance for us to do.” I love this verse because it reminds me of my identity in Christ. God has created me on purpose and for a purpose. Each day He has prepared good things for me to do. This motivates me to be filled with the Holy Spirit so I can see people and opportunities through His eyes. I don’t miss out on being a part of what He has prepared for me to do. Living like this is an adventure.
What excites you about what God is doing around the world?
I am excited to be a part of a training team that has trained hundreds of thousands of pastors and church planters in more than 100 countries. I am also excited to be a part of DCPI’s collaboration with dozens of other organizations who are committed to see a Church In Every Village Everywhere in the world in the next 15 years!
What miracles have you seen God perform?
I have seen the power of God miraculously transform peoples hearts, heal them from cancer and set them free from demonic strongholds! I have worked with hundreds of pastors and disciple-makers who have experienced God doing countless miracles in people’s lives. (Acts 1:8) I have also seen God heal my son’s knee. He had completely torn his ACL and couldn’t walk without extreme pain. We had some friends come over to our house to lay hands on him and pray for him. He was instantly healed and could run and jump without any pain!
Most influential books or movies:
When I was in college, I read a biography of DL Moody. His passion for reaching the lost and his dedication to the gospel was instrumental in shaping my life. My favorite quote from the book is, “The world has yet to see what God can do through a man wholly committed to Him… by the grace of God I am going to be that man!”
Recently, these 3 books have awakened a passion within me to raise up disciple makers who plant multiplying churches: Wiki Church by Steve Murrell; Starfish Movement by Dan Grider; Exponential by David Ferguson.
