Laughter is the best medicine!

A joyful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22a

“Laughing releases endorphins from your brain, reduces the level of stress in your body, and strengthens the immune system. It is proven that laughter therapy, also known as humor therapy, can reduce negativity, emotional stress, and physical discomfort. (from the Healing Power of Laughter-The Council on Recovery.)

“One research team, using the relationship between laughter and natural killer cell activity, found that the more frequently patients engaged in laughter, the stronger their natural killer cell activity became. Cathy and I love to laugh. We laugh with each other. We laugh with our friends. We laugh with our favorite TV comedies like re-runs of “Everybody Loves Raymond”.

We encourage you to laugh. This will help heal you!

Update

Cathy and I met with my oncologist, Dr. Kate Gold in preparation for my first chemo and immunotherapy treatment. Immunotherapy is a type of treatment that helps your own immune system fight cancer. The first treatment will be on Tuesday, February 22. These 4 hour IV treatments will be three weeks apart into the future.

The most common side effects are fatigue and nausea. In my Faith Challenge, I haven’t had nausea but plenty of fatigue. The meeting was challenging because Dr. Gold must share all the potential side effects for two chemo and one immunotherapy drugs that will be in the mix along with anti-nausea medications. This is like hearing a commercial on TV about the latest wonder drug that has several potential side effects.

The meeting with Dr. Gold was also encouraging because, for the first time, we are medically going to war with the lung cancer. As of Tuesday, I am actively taking steps to kill the lung and the liver cancer.

Prayer Requests

Please pray with me that God will…

1. Protect and care for my wife, Cathy, and family and the DCPI Team worldwide.

2. Completely heal Paul in the land of the living as soon as possible.

3. Eliminate or greatly minimize the side effects of the chemo/immunology treatments and use them to effectively kill the lung cancer.

4. Heal the liver cancer completely.

5. Amaze our doctors when Jesus completely removes all the lung cancer from my body and help them come to Christ!
